Gorgeous pages, aren't they? Well, if you noticed in the title of this post, I used the word "releases"...so what else do we have for you? It's Amber's March edition of the Project 1440 collection. It's full of clovers, horseshoes and Irish fun, but don't think that will limit what you can do with it. In Loving Memory of Peggy Heindselman

Good morning Digiland! It is with a heavy heart that I post today in honor of, in my opinion, the most amazing and loving woman that lived upon this earth (except for my mommy :) ) Peggy Heindselman, as many of you may know from my layouts of her as "Grammy". Grammy passed last Friday, February 17 just after her morning cuppa joe. The day after my birthday. In my heart, I would like to believe Grammy waited until my birthday was over before leaving this earth to go home to be with the Father.

How can one even describe her? She was beautiful and classy, completely full of grace. She was always, and I mean ALWAYS smiling and laughing. A die hard coffee lover! I've never known anyone as cheerful as her. She saw the good in everyone and everything. To her, every morning was good. She had the ability to see down into the heart of a person and know that they were good, even if it wasn't so obvious to others. She didn't judge and she loved unconditionally. If you ever had a bad day, 5 minutes with Grammy washed it all away. You couldn't help but be happy around her.

Though her aging body didn't let her do the things she once could. In her earlier years she was so gifted at so many things. She could sew ANYTHING. One time she made a department store quality faux fur coat complete with lining. You would have never known it was hand-made. She could knit and crochet. Although I could already crochet, I will never forget when she taught me to knit just a few years ago. She cooked so well, that her own sons said there wasn't a meal she didn't make that wasn't delicious in all their years. Well, there was one - LOL.... I remember us joking about it this past Father's Day. My family moved into Grammy's house to help my parents take care of the home and to be nearer to help them take care of Grammy. My parents had a room built onto their home just for her and took care of her full time. Father's Day was the first time she came in her home again, since having moved in with my parents and since us moving in and updating some things in the home. She LOVED it. That day, we sat at the dining room table and my step-dad, Terry said "We have eaten a lot of good meals in this room. There wasn't anything mom cooked that wasn't delicious. Well, there was this one casserole dish..." Grammy starts to CRACK UP! .... Terry continues "even dad wouldn't eat it!" Grammy shakes her head no, and still laughing. Terry continues "but that was the only time. Mom always cooked with love and took really good care of us boys and dad."

She was like the June Cleaver of mothers. A mother of two boys, and always a kind word. She was heavily involved in Boy Scouts with her boys. She was also very supportive of their interests and talents even allowing Terry's high school band to set up jam sessions in the basement. No matter the loud noise, to her it was making him happy. She lived for her children. She made it so her life blessed her husband's and her boys'. It reminds me of Proverbs 31:28 Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:

Another interesting thing is that she was an amazing master gardener. She would tell you herself that often talked to her plants and flowers. Everyone who ever knew her, will tell you that she could bring any completely dead plant or flower back to flourishing life. On that same Father's Day visit last year, she and her walker took me on a tour of the entire back yard and she told me what each and every flower was and how to maintain it. At 85 years old, she knew exactly what and where everything was in her yard. She loved to be outside more than anything. Friends of hers, Tom and Danette, told me a story at her viewing. They said even if she would start working in the yard at 7:30 in the morning, she would stay out there all day either tending to the yard or just sitting and enjoying the great weather. Often they would find her asleep in the late evening on her swing or at her patio table!

She loved to travel, especially with her late husband Johnny. They were married in 1947 and married for 54 years when Johnny passed. 54 years! That is love. She loved to talk about Johnny. She would tell you how good he was to her. He loved to buy her jewelry, take her places, and just plain spoil her. But what man wouldn't? She was a precious woman.

I miss her so much that I can't hardly stand it. Today, just like any other Saturday, I wanted to get around and go see her. It is that moment where your brain "forgets" and you realize that is something you can never ever do again, is when your heart breaks in that moment. I and my husband ADORED visits with her. The moment she saw us, her eyes lit up and her hands reached right out, shaking in anticipation for us to get close enough for her to touch us and grab our hands. Always eager for a big hug and several kisses as if it had been ages since she had seen us, even if it had only been the day before. That is just how wonderful she was. She made you feel like you were the best part of her day, when really, she was the best part of our day! We would joke and laugh with her and just talk about her memories or plans of what she might like to do. My fondest memories are singing with her. The song we sang the most was Precious Lord, it was her favorite. Some others were Amazing Grace, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, It is Well, All to Jesus I Surrender, and sometimes we would make up songs being silly. I loved the jazzy sounds of the 40s and sometimes, we would put on one of those old 1940s music channels on Sirius and she would tell us where she was or a memory from the time that song first came out. I loved that. I will miss that so much. I will miss our slumber parties too.

My husband had a special place in her heart. She gushed on him all the time. He was her "big boy" and he was "such a good boy". She would hold onto him every time he was near. She always let everyone know how well Larry would take care of her. He would never let her fall and always saw that she would get to her bed safely. One weekend, when she had to be admitted to the hospital, he volunteered to be the one to stay with her overnight so she wouldn't be alone. He stayed 2 nights with her, sleeping in chair, and bought her a Russ "pug" to sleep with, and she never forgot that. She told anyone who would listen, all about that weekend and how he took care of her. A few months later, he also bought her a beautiful ring with a purple stone (her favorite color). She insisted when she was making decisions on her future funeral, on being buried with that ring on and her pug with her also.

There are so many stories I could tell about this sweet woman and I am sure from time to time on this blog I will as I am reminded of something she said or did, or some special moment. For now, I will leave you with some of my favorite layouts and photos of her that I will treasure for the rest of my humble little life. THANK YOU PEGGY HEINDSELMAN for the imprint you left on this earth in every life that had the pleasure of joining with yours. You will never, ever be forgotten. I will see you again one day. I love you.

Hello Digiland and Happy Day! With my "new" name change at the beginning of the month, my amazing Creative Team has helped me in doing some new stuff here on the blog. Good Morning!

Deanna is here to bring you a short HELLO from the Amber Shaw team.
I live in southern California, and we're expecting a big rain storm today. We are praying it is a bigger storm than the last storm that was predicted. We received a few drops of rain here, but nothing like was predicted!! And we need the rain so badly!! I hope the weather where you are is nice today. I know parts of the US are expecting really bad weather today.

My sister is visiting me from Arizona. It's the first time we've been together in 3 or 4 years. We're having a marvelous time together. Yesterday my oldest granddaughter came over and we made some cards in my scrapbook room. It was the first time the scrapbook room has been used in about 3 months! I really SHOULD do something about that--either get rid of all my paper things or make some things with it!! I really do enjoy working with real stuff once in awhile. I'm NOT a card maker by choice--and I have WAY too much stuff to think I would EVER use it all up just making cards!! I love all the paper albums I've made over the 16 years I paper scrapped. I love that when my grandchildren come for a visit that they look through the albums and giggle.

What is a girl to do when her interest changes? I'm now fully immersed in the digi-world. I love everything about it. Besides that, I need a guest room, so the writing is on the wall--sooner or later, that beloved scrapbook room SHOULD become my much needed guest room! --but when? and what do I do with all the "stuff" I collected over the 16 years I paper scrapped? I'm too frugal to just get rid of it all!! It was pretty expensive!! I've given a lot of it away already--but there are TONS more still in that room!!

Well, I guess I'll be like Scarlett O'Hara and worry about it tomorrow! I don't like to tax my head so early in the morning. It's time to get ready for church--I hope you all have a great day, and don't forget to check out Amber's newest release--MY COMFORT here in the store:

CT Spotlight - meet Amy!

HAPPY SATURDAY EVERYONE!! I am having my first CT Spotlight of many more to come. I have the pleasure and honor of having such an amazing, creative, and kindest team of girls that I just have to show them off! Today we are going to talk about Amy! -- and just in case you are wondering, she actually spells her name with the "!", isn't that awesome? Amy! has been with me for nearly 2 years and her work never ceases to amaze me. I got down right personal with Amy! and this is what she had to say:

1. Can you tell us a little about yourself? I’ve been with the hubby since 1991. I’ll be 40 this Feb. eek! and I have an 8 year old son. My greatest accomplishment. Actually I’m a pretty boring girl...usually. But I do like to have fun from time to time.

2. How long have you been digital scrapbooking? First place I registered was Aug. 2007

3. How would you describe your scrapbooking style? Total work in progress. I started with wanting the old paper look...now I’m totally addicted to clusters.. Shadow and cluster work is what I’m working on to improve. always learning!

4. What are your scrap habits? Music, TV, coffee, special snack or time? My computer sits right next to the TV...so I sit and play while the TV is on. usually while the hubby and son are out or in bed.

5. What software do you create on and what camera do you use? I’m poor so I’m working with old equipment...but both are decent and get the job done. Canon 20D and PSE6 (which btw I’ve misplaced the disk) knock on wood nothing happens.

6. What is your favorite 'go to" digi item when making a page? Templates!

7. When you are not scrapbooking, what are you doing? Not Scrapbooking ?! really? heehe, no seriously living life like everyone else. Taking care of the house and family. Taking pictures, thinking of the next LO.

8. What is something funny that has happened to you recently? hmmmm, again, I’m boring. Can’t recall anything at the moment. I know, no fun.

9. What is one thing about you that people are surprised to learn? I’m a young, sexy, funky girl stuck in the wrong body. So anything sexy and/or funky I love.

10.What is your fave Amber Shaw kit and why? ooh boy let’s see...thinking thinking...ok, I really love all your flowers and pretty stuff but I’m going with a new one that’s a lil different and comes right to mind. Being a Mom to one wild kid and a big sexy man/hubby I’ll say, My Man.

This layout Amy! created with Life is a Journey, is one of my favorites for many reasons. I love that her whole family is in the layout , her journaling is sweet, and composition is fantastic. Amy!'s clustering always blows me away and in this layout, it is no exception. I also love how she used pops of the red so tastefully.

New Release ... "My Comfort"

I am a huge fan of praise and worship music. I've been singing on our church's praise team for more years than I would like to admit (!!) and I've seen songs come and go. But one praise song that I think will stand the test of time is one of my favorites, "Shout to the Lord" written by Chris Tomlin. The beautiful lyrics and perfect harmonies still give me chills when I sing it. So I was very pleased when I saw that Amber used this song as the inspiration for her latest kit, "My Comfort". Whether you use this kit for spiritual and faith pages, heritage layouts or any other special moment or memory, you will fall in love with its soft colors and elegant elements.

Today is the day we announce the winner of the drawing for Amber's YUMMY new year long project! Yes, you read that right! The drawing was for the ENTIRE YEAR of Project 1440 minis! What a great gift. There were 19 posts and she used random.org to find the winner! It chose #10

Though you might not have won anything this time, make sure to check in every Monday to see a sneak of upcoming kits and make a post to be entered to win. I've been busy this past week trying to organize my digi stash. I haven't found a perfect way to do this yet--but I've tried!! I tried a free program one time and spent hours tagging and then lost all the tags when I moved my stash to my external hard drive. I tried organizing by store--but that was before I realized designers move around sometimes. Now I just put everything in folders according to CT>Designer>kit or NON CT>Designer>Kit. Then I search for things with the Window Search. I know there must be a better way to do this, so I'll continue my search for that perfect solution!!

This is Sunday, so I'll be off to church this morning. My husband is the organist at our church so I get to listen to all the beautiful music all week as he practices the order of service. It gets me in a worshipful mood for sure. It's a great way to start the week! I hope all the readers here have a wonderful week also!

My team and I have been baiting you for a few weeks about big news for Ruby Lane. Well today is the day to reveal that news to you! But first, let me give you a little history... a little over a month ago I was contacted by the legal team of an online store that felt my design name was in infringement upon their trademark. After much research, and a few consultations - it was determined that though this company really did not have the grounds to make such a demand, and furthermore they are missing an incredible opportunity for cross promotion - never the less Ruby Lane will be going away! Starting today, Ruby Lane Designs is now just little ol me - designs by Amber Shaw. All of the previous content from the Ruby Lane blog has been imported to this blog as well so you will not have missed anything!

To celebrate I have created a mini kit available in both of my stores AND I have created an add on that I am giving away for a limited time on my NEW Facebook Fan page! Full of metal and masculinity, this kit will work for boys and men of all ages. The papers are perfectly textured and beautiful (can I say that about a manly kit?) and you'll love working with them. New Release -- Every Day Matters - April

Funky Club volume 2 and a new CU product by Ruby Lane Designs

As you all know, Ruby Lane is one of the four designers participating in the Funky Club volume 2, along with fellow designers Girl Boy Girl Designs, Amanda Carlson and River-Rose.

With a subscription to The Funky Club - Volume Two, you receive sixteen mini-kits, one per week from January 5 through April 20, 2011. The contents of the mini-kits will be a surprise (much like a grab bag), but each mini-kit will contain at LEAST two papers and two elements. Additional items will vary from mini-to-mini and they may even include templates! All items in the mini-kits will be personal use products that will work in any photo editing program.

The subscription to The Funky Club - Volume Two costs just $10.00 - that's over $30.00 in savings off the individual selling price of the mini-kits. That averages out to about 62 cents per mini-kit!

The Funky Club Volume Two subscription will be available for purchase through April 20, 2011. After that date, the Funky Club Volume Two mini-kits will only be available as individual purchases at their regular selling price ($2.50-$3.50 each).

HOW THE SUBSCRIPTION WORKS

When you purchase The Funky Club - Volume Two - Subscription, you will receive download links to all of The Funky Club Volume Two mini-kits currently released to-date. Please note that the previously released Funky Club Volume One mini-kits are NOT included in the Funky Club Volume Two Subscription. Funky Playground Design's customer service department will activate your subscription within 72 hours (excluding weekends/holidays) and send you an email confirmation. After your subscription is active, it is your responsibility to login to the store each of the remaining weeks using the same username and password with which you purchased the subscription. Once you are logged in, the prices on The Funky Club mini-kits will show as $0.00. Simply place the mini-kit in your cart and check out to receive your download link. New mini-kits will be released each Wednesday. If you need an email to help jog your memory to download, consider subscribing to their weekly newsletter - the Funky Club releases are prominently featured!

All subscriptions to The Funky Club - Volume Two will be deactivated on April 27, 2011 and will not be reactivated for any reason. Happy Friday Digiland! I am snowed in AGAIN! I think I just might even take a late morning nap, I really never get to do that and I was up early making Monkey Bread and I think I am having a sugar crash, so it will be a real treat to just veg today. After this long post! LOL!

On to further news, last week I got to see how many people actually read the post, lol, and I received some really awesome feed back from some of you when I asked "What is your favorite thing about kits by Ruby Lane", I thank those who took the time to make a post and enter to win the Yesterday Kit AND Cluster set. The feedback and compliments were just wonderful! This morning I wrote down the names of the posters, folded them up, closed my eyes and drew a name and the winner is:

2nd Freebie today & our sledding pictures!

Just like I had told you earlier today, I would be back to post photos and maybe a freebie, well guess what? That maybe is a YES! :) I am EXHAUSTED after a day sledding with the wee ones! After that we followed with hot chocolate and cookies at my friend's house. Here are some photos of our adventure, but I am sure glad it's over! Be easy on my daughter's hairdo, we went sledding after all!! :)
